Bring your friends to see Tapped, an award-winning movie that is a compelling and disturbing portrayal of what happened in Maine when Nestle Bottling Co. moved to town. Explore the issues at stake as a multi-national water bottler moves into Connecticut and we face severe drought.
Tapped documents the effects of the bottled water industry on our health, climate change, and the environment. Niagra Bottling in Bloomfield, CT is extracting hundreds of thousands of gallons per day of public drinking water, during a severe drought, to transport out of state in millions of plastic bottles, to sell at a huge mark-up. This could happen anywhere in CT. It is time to educate ourselves about the impact of the water bottling industry on our water supplies and our environment. Members of Save Our Water CT will be present for a Q and A after the showing and give updates on the efforts to protect CT’s water at the upcoming state legislative session and discuss what citizens can do to help.
Save Our Water CT is a citizen action organization born of the largely behind the scenes deals made by the Bloomfield Town Council and the Metropolitan District Commission, the state’s largest water company, to give financial incentives for large scale water bottling of public trust water. Save Our Water CT is committed to protecting all the state’s public trust waters for the long term health and safety of our residents and environment.
Please consider bringing a Potluck Dish to share, we will eat and enjoy Fellowship time before the movie!
