We talk a lot about love. It is a big theme in our church and a very big theme in the Bible. Jesus talked about love.
We talk about peace quite a bit as well. Just as in Jesus’ time there was division over how peace might be achieved. Was it through justice or through military victory?
Recent events in our country have led me to believe that we need a heavy dose of love and peace. It seems that we are hearing quite a bit of the opposite lately. It was a powerful moment last week when members of churches, synagogues, mosques and the community gathered at Temple Bnai Israel in Willimantic. It was a sacred evening–and God’s Spirit was present.
The world needs more love and peace. Our community needs more love and peace.
On Saturday, November 17- we will be hosting a Candlelight Love and Peace Walk.
We will gather at 7:30 pm behind the First Congregational Church of Lebanon. We will have about 15 minutes of a peace and love sing-a-long and then folks will be invited to walk around the green. Please bring a flashlight, lantern, or candle.
We talk about love and peace. Let’s walk for love and peace.
There will be no speeches or sermons. There will be no politicizing or proselytizing. There is no agenda other than to gather for love and peace. Come if you can, walk if you are able, sing a song for peace and love.
Let our church be known as the church who walks the walk for love and peace.
It may not have global impact- but it may change your world.
Peace and Love-
Rev. Will
